Welcome to the home page of Oakham Town Council's website.
Situated in the picturesque Vale of Catmose
Oakham is the County Town of Rutland, England's smallest mainland County.
There is a classic combination of Castle, Market Place with a Buttercross
and Stocks (intriguingly with 5 holes), an old and famous school and a
magnificent church. These are all arranged in a rectangle around which
the town has grown.
Today Oakham is a thriving market town that has undergone considerable
expansion. It currently has a population of approximately 12000 people.
This site has been developed to inform people of the work and activities of
Oakham Town Council. Suggestions as to how it could be improved are always
welcome.
